Barbara Salzberg
Barbara Salzberg has been living in Israel for the past 24 years and has recently returned to the U.S. to establish a practice on the East Coast. She has worked as a childbirth educator, a teacher of English and as a therapist with troubled youth, children and the elderly. Recently she has worked with Holocaust Survivors using voice and story. Her varied experiences led Barbara to specialize in Voice Movement Therapy as she became convinced of the potential of voice work for fostering growth and overcoming emotional blocks.
Barbara studied VMT in London at the London Voice Centre. She holds a BS in Educational Counseling and received an MA in Voice Movement Therapy from the Academy of Contemporary Research in Montana, U.S. She is the only certified Voice Movement Therapist in Israel. She has also spent the last few years conducting workshops as well as private sessions throughout the United States. At present, with her colleague Dr. Carolyn Campfield, she is conducting the first Voice Movement Therapy Institute Practitioner Training Course in Saint Paul, Minnesota. This course entails a ten-week intensive training process along with a year-long supervision.
"I experienced the passionate spirit of Barbara Salzberg, intertwined with her powerful work using Voice Movement Therapy, and found myself transformed! She was not afraid to jump into the unknown and guide me to discover a deeper, richer sense of voice and self. Barbara was a courageous fighter in my journey toward healing and wholeness. I will always be grateful for her profound insights." - DD
"Barbara created a spacious and safe container for a great variety of sounds, movement, and needs to find expression" - FE

"barbara is an amazing person. i cant separate the wonderful attention that encourages and makes it ok to release from the exercises and imagery that she uses. she cares deeply about people and helping them connect to their voice beyond the usual blocks and hangups. with me she held me, gave me some imagery, took my hands and somehow catapulted me to a place i had never thought i could get with my voice, all the while encouraging me. dont miss an opportunity to work with barbara! . . . its like a short cut to the heart of singing, somehow you find this place.... its a combination of her attention, her love, her knowledge of helpful imagery, her strong arms that know the right place to touch or palpatate, and her encouragement and absolute belief in her client. somehow you get there. she is a wonder! i highly recommend that anybody at any level of get some time with her. Afterall, who doesn't want to soar?"- CC
